7.8m collage on paper, video projection

Departure shows a passage of time, inspired by the philosophy ‘Mono No Aware’ or the pathos of things. There is a bittersweet sadness that comes with an awareness of the transience of life, but like the changing seasons, there is also joy and appreciation. Constructed from found material consisting of magazine cut outs and recycled prints, this subject of time is also reflected in the means. The colours and existing stories that make up the fabric of this film are pieces of time themselves. With no explicit narrative, Departure is only complete upon the audience experiencing it.
